ABC’s church weekend will bring the whole church together. Through teaching and worship, laughter, shared meals and conversation, we’ll grow confidence in faith, be drawn closer together as family and discover more about what we are Becoming…
We hope you can join us for this special time.
John McGinley will be leading some of our sessions at the weekend away. John is on the National Leadership team of New Wine and vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Leicester. There the church has been pursuing a missional community strategy for the past 7 years, and John is passionate about enabling people to be disciples of Jesus who lead others to become disciples. He is the author of a book on this subject ‘Mission Shaped Grace – missional practices for missional disciples’. He is married to Bridget and they have two teenage daughters and a Springer Spaniel dog called Monty at home with them. Outside of church ministry he is a season ticket holder at Leicester City Football Club and occasionally plays golf.
As in previous years we will be able to worship together in a more relaxed way than is possible at home and a key focus will be on having fun and getting to know each other better.
To assist with our planning could we encourage you to book early (or let us know you are coming) to reserve your place.
Accommodation & Cefn Lea
The Cefn Lea Conference Centre and Holiday Park nestles in a 50 acre site in a secluded valley in the beautiful and peaceful hills of Powys Mid Wales. There is a fun programme planned with something for everyone and this is an ideal opportunity to spend time together and discover what God wants for each of us in a relaxed and informal setting.
Saturday afternoon is free time for everyone to enjoy the facilities on site, visit the local attractions, play sports (please bring your own equipment), go for walks or just sit and relax!
We will make sure you are aware of the various activities planned and there will be an opportunity to link you up with others, so that no one is left out.
The Standard accommodation consists of a combination of 3-bedroom static Leisure Homes (ideal for couples sharing) and Family Chalet rooms both capable of sleeping up to six people.
There are also a limited number of ‘Ensuite’ Family rooms in chalets (again sleeping up to a maximum of six persons) for which there is an additional cost.
The nature of the accommodation available lends itself to friends or groups sharing accommodation together. There is a space on the booking form to indicate if you wish to share with a particular person, family or group, we will do our best to accommodate this.

What is included?
The cost of the weekend includes accommodation and all meals. If you have any special requirements or dietary needs (e.g. allergies or vegetarian) please indicate this on the booking form.
The accommodation is equipped with duvets, pillows and blankets. However, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and towels are not supplied, though you may prefer to bring your own sleeping bags.
In addition to food and accommodation, the cost also includes a contribution to the expenses of the weekend e.g. speaker, room and equipment hire, youth and children’s ministry.
We have tried to keep the price similar to 2016, some prices have been reduced slightly. However, Cefn Lea charge us a surcharge of £50 for empty beds, which is applied if the overall occupancy is less than two thirds.
In the past some couples have preferred to have the sole use of a caravan or chalet. While we would encourage you to share, this preference can be accommodated at an additional cost of £75 per booking.
We have tried to keep the cost to a minimum to ensure that the weekend is accessible to everyone, including those with children. However, if you feel able, there is the option to contribute a little more and this will enable us to offer places to those who would like to be with us but otherwise might not be able to go.
