Altrincham CAP Life Skills Service
CAP Life Skills is a free eight week course designed for people living on a low income, teaching practical skills and money management techniques in a hands-on way. By covering topics such as household financial management, cooking on a budget, staying in control of your home energy, maintaining healthy relationships and taking care of wellbeing, we hope to empower members to improve and maintain both their financial and personal wellbeing.
As we are currently unable to meet in person we have launched a brand new online service in September 2020 called Kickstart, which contains some of the elements of the full Life Skills course and is as its name suggests intended to 'kickstart' people’s lives again. These are weekly sessions held remotely in bitesize sessions. Kick Start opens up conversations about the challenges people are facing and gives practical tips on how to overcome these. Sessions cover topics such as anxiety and worry, lifting financial pressure, handling habits and more. The sessions contain a mixture of short videos and various practical group activities, designed to bring people into community and friendship groups, alleviating the pressures that people are feeling so acutely, especially at this time.
